Despite a successful transfer to Red Bull at the end of last year, Sebastian Vettel will return to the wheel of a Toro Rosso on Sunday.
This event is organized to pay tribute to his success with the Faenza team, notably his exceptional victory at Monza, in the rain, and to receive the prestigious Lorenzo Bandini trophy.
To mark the occasion, Vettel will drive the STR3 powered by its Ferrari V8 over the 12 kilometers separating the Faenza factory and Bandini’s hometown, located in Brisighella.
The Lorenzo Bandini Trophy was created in tribute to one of the best Italian drivers of his generation, who was killed in an accident in Monaco in 1967 when his car caught fire.
The winner of the trophy last year was Robert Kubica and before him Felipe Massa. Previously, Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jenson Button, Jarno Trulli, Alex Wurz, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jacques Villeneuve, and David Coulthard had also had the honor of receiving this award.
Vettel will receive the trophy from the hands of Bandini’s widow in the main square of the city.
