The new reserve driver Brendon Hartley wasn’t the only young Red Bull hopeful to have joined the Formula 1 paddock last weekend in Barcelona.
There was also the young Spanish driver Jaime Alguersuari (19 years old) who won the prestigious British F3 Championship last year and is racing this year in the World Series by Renault.
In Barcelona, he wore Toro Rosso team clothing, and he was in charge of learning as much as possible about the team’s operations and functioning for that weekend.
« It was a great experience to work with Franz Tost’s team and to be integrated into a team for a Grand Prix, » commented Alguersuari.
It seems that the driver will be back in the Toro Rosso garage next weekend in Monaco, where a World Series Renault race will take place.
Alguersuari, sponsored by Red Bull and Repsol, had beaten his Carlin team teammates, Oliver Turvey and Brendon Hartley, in British F3 last year. He is currently considered by the Spanish press as the worthy successor to Fernando Alonso. A name to remember!
