Ecclestone moderates his position on the return of Silverstone

New twist in the organization of the 2010 British Grand Prix. We mentioned a few days ago the difficulties Donington is facing to be ready on time and Bernie Ecclestone’s firm stance on not wanting to return to Silverstone.

The manager of F1’s commercial rights, however, announced this week that the doors of F1 are not definitively closed for Silverstone! Quite a turnaround…

Emphasizing the outdated nature of the facilities, it seems, according to a few whispers in the paddock, that Ecclestone is simply in disagreement with the BRDC (British Racing Drivers’ Club), the owner of the circuit.

The F1 treasurer told the London newspaper Times that « if they had done what they should have, and what we had been asking them for 5 years, we would have more consideration for them. We have nothing against Silverstone ».

He also denied the remarks made by Damon Hill, president of the BRDC, who said that this conversation had already been mentioned.

« No, I haven’t spoken to them, » concluded Ecclestone in the magazine GPWeek.

Silverstone is the circuit that hosted the first F1 GP in 1950, and it is the third circuit to have most frequently hosted the event, after Monza and Monaco.
