Renault team ready to use the new diffuser

The lawyer representing Renault at the broadcasters’ appeal hearing in Paris confirmed on Tuesday that the French team would be ready to deploy its own version of the controversial component.

The legal representative, Andrew Ford, stated before the Court of Appeal that Renault had started working on the concept and had inquired whether it was legal.

« Renault did not miss the call (…) it’s because the FIA declared it was illegal. »

Ford revealed that Renault could immediately roll out a first version of its design in China this weekend. Logically, the court should dismiss the appeal against the commissioners and declare the broadcasters legal. The decision is expected tomorrow, Wednesday.

In Australia, Renault, Ferrari, and Red Bull protested against the diffusers of Brawn, Toyota, and Williams. In Malaysia, BMW-Sauber joined the first group.

These seven teams are present in Paris this Tuesday, as well as McLaren, in the ‘anti-diffuser’ group.

To return to the Renault team, the use of this double diffuser could result in a gain of 0.4 to 1 second. Briatore’s anger recently about these diffusers is understandable since he didn’t understand why Brawn, Toyota, and Williams were allowed this type of component and not his team.

Since the three teams have been using it, has the Italian accelerated the development work for an introduction in Spain, originally planned for Bahrain and finally in China?

To be continued in a few days…
