Wurz considers himself the 3rd Brawn GP driver

Alex Wurz remains adamant about his position within the Brawn GP team: according to him, he is the third driver and the 2009 reserve driver.

For a few weeks, there has been some confusion about whether Wurz, already under contract for this year according to his commitment with Honda, or Anthony Davidson, will attend the Grand Prix this season with this status. They must be ready at any time to step in and replace one of the two official drivers.

But Wurz, an Austrian now 35 years old, said to the German magazine Sport Bild: “I am the third driver.”

« If one of the two drivers cannot drive, for any reason, I am here to replace him. »

« Moreover, I am a kind of link between the drivers and the team, » he claimed.

In Malaysia, Davidson commented on the Grand Prix for British television and was therefore present at Sepang. However, he made no specific comments regarding whether or not he is the current reserve driver for Brawn GP.
