For this second Friday of free practice, more important than ever with the ban on in-season testing, Williams made perfect use of their time. And for good reason, the Grove team placed both of its cars in the top 10 in both sessions.
Nico Rosberg could have continued his dream by remaining undefeated in practice sessions this season. Unfortunately, after a first place in the first session, he fell to 4th place in the second session. His teammate, Kazuki Nakajima, confirmed his team’s very good form by being 2nd in the morning and then 8th in the afternoon.
Nico Rosberg – 1st and 4th:
« We had a very good day making a lot of changes to the car to improve its setup. We made good progress. We also did some good tests with the tires. »
« I think we now have a good idea of what is happening with the tires on this track. Everything worked very well today with, of course, the first drive in the heat. I believe my winter preparation helped a lot.
Kazuki Nakajima – 2nd and 8th:
« It’s a very positive day because we were able to carry over our competitiveness from the last race to these first tests. Whether we are as fast as in Melbourne remains to be seen, but we are in much better shape than last year on this same track. We will continue to work tomorrow and explore possibilities for improvements.
