BMW officially joins the group appealing against the broadcaster

BMW-Sauber has officially appealed, along with three other teams, the FIA’s decision that deemed the diffusers of Brawn GP, Toyota, and Williams compliant with the regulations. The German team will therefore be present at the FIA Court of Appeal hearing to be held on April 14 in Paris.

Indeed, just like Ferrari, Red Bull Racing, and Renault, these teams are questioning the legality of these diffusers.

BMW-Sauber initially planned to protest by joining the opposition at the Australian Grand Prix, but their request was not finalized in time.

Despite this, the team notified the FIA that it wished to join the hearing so that it could present its belief that these diffusers go against the regulations.

« We have announced that we want to be heard in the appeal hearing that has been confirmed by the FIA, » said BMW Motorsport director Mario Theissen.

« We will do it as an involved or interested party. »

The Hinwil team is evaluating whether or not a protest by the broadcasters in Malaysia is feasible. Theissen was seen in deep discussions with Ferrari in the Sepang paddocks.

Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner, stated that his team is unlikely to join any protest in Malaysia, but he does not rule anything out for now.
