In Australia, a few days ago, the two team drivers, Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella, finished the race. Something rare last year and which shows that Force India has improved the reliability of its cars.
This is proof, in any case, that this season, all the clocks are reset and that every team has a chance to score points. Toro Rosso and especially Brawn GP know something about it. Whatever happens, Force India is ready to put on ‘rain’ tires in case of bad weather, which is highly probable according to the latest available weather forecasts.
Giancarlo Fisichella – Racing Driver
« Sepang is a very interesting track, I think it’s one of the best circuits of the year. It is modern and it’s where I won in 2006, I have good memories. It’s a really nice circuit, with many corners all different from one another. After the relatively slow numbers 1 and 2, 5 and 6 must be taken at high speed. Braking at turn 11 is one of the most difficult of the season so watch out for wheel locking. »
« Everyone says it’s the most difficult race of the season, it seems like a cliché, even if physically and mentally you need to have resources. On average, I lose about three kilos on Sundays. »
Dominic Harlow – Chief Race Engineer:
Such combinations of turns make braking stability key to the race, but understeer must be watched out for. The weather could also play havoc in Sepang. For the qualifying and the race, which take place in the late afternoon, there are those famous tropical showers that appear very quickly.
« It is for this reason that ‘rain’ tires could be used by the drivers, something that Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella approach with confidence. The Sepang circuit is physically demanding due to the heat and lateral forces. The track surface is now quite old. For the engineers, setting up the single-seater is difficult, and the Soft tires will make the task even more challenging. »
