Nick Fry declared today in an interview with the official Formula 1 site that his team was no longer directly threatened by bankruptcy. He believes that the one-two finish at the Australian Grand Prix has ensured Brawn GP’s sustainability for the 2009 season, and beyond.
« The team’s financial situation is quite good at the moment. If we hadn’t achieved the double, I don’t think this would be the case. We are now OK to finish the season and probably to race next season. » Comments the technical director of the English team.
Richard Branson made a good contribution to the survival of the team and I believe it has a bright future considering all the contacts Ross Brawn has had recently. This clearly shows that if you have a good car, finding sponsors is easier. Brands want to be associated with success and victory, which is good news for us.
The Englishman is living a fairy tale just like its drivers. It’s important to remember that just a few weeks ago, this team wasn’t supposed to race. « For the moment, what we are experiencing is a fairy tale. But we still need money and we (with Ross Brawn) will do everything to persuade Richard Branson to continue sponsoring the team with Virgin. It’s a very beautiful brand, and I think that if he continues with us, other groups will quickly get involved. »
Brawn GP will therefore have to continue demonstrating its capabilities in Malaysia this Sunday to keep pursuing sponsors.
