Sebastian Vettel has been penalized with a 10-place grid drop for the next Malaysian Grand Prix in just a week’s time. This decision was made following his collision with Robert Kubica in the final laps of the Melbourne race.
Vettel crashed into Kubica’s BMW-Sauber with only three laps remaining, especially since they occupied the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, thus the podium. The Pole was trying to overtake the German on the outside.
The two men had to withdraw because the damage to their car was too significant.
The Red Bull team driver was also fined 50,000 dollars, over 37,000 euros, for staying on the track for several minutes. Indeed, he was driving on three wheels with the fourth ready to come off. It is for this dangerous situation that Vettel has to pay.
