Friday – Red Bull ends its day full of hope

Freshly arrived from team no. 2, Sebastian Vettel somewhat missed his debut with Red Bull Racing. Only somewhat, because in the afternoon, he posted the 8th fastest time even though he had to retire. Just like in the morning, but this time due to a hydraulic issue.

His teammate, Mark Webber, has recovered well from his multiple winter fractures. After a difficult adaptation in the morning, he recorded the 4th fastest time during free practice 2 by placing his single-seater among those with a different diffuser…

Mark Webber – 17th and 4th:

« It’s great to be back in Australia. I’m proud of my Grand Prix. It’s a great show for everyone here and first and foremost for the local population. To be honest, my first day wasn’t perfect because we had some technical problems with the car. »

« I didn’t do many laps in the first session, but the second went much better. We completed more laps and I tried both types of tires. The sun was particularly low towards the end of the second session, it will be something to get used to for Sunday. »

Sebastian Vettel – 20th and 8th:

« We had a bad session this morning. There were no tests due to a hydraulic issue. In the afternoon, we managed to do a few laps, but unfortunately, I made a stupid mistake by putting two wheels of my single-seater in the grass. We couldn’t complete our program. »

« As always on Fridays, it’s a bit difficult to interpret the lap times, but I think we can be happy with this 8th place in the afternoon.

Christian Horner – Team Principal:

« It’s a pleasure to be back in the race. There were a few issues during the first session; a hydraulic leak with Sebastian and a transmission problem with Mark. »

« In the second session, both drivers showed good speed and we worked in line with our program. Unfortunately, Sebastian ended his day a bit early due to an unexpected event. Both drivers seem comfortable in their car, and their pace is respectable. »
