Another team has just joined the exclusive circle of teams that have decided to use KERS for the inaugural race of the 2009 season. After Renault and Ferrari, it is McLaren that confirms the use of their system this weekend.
Most of the teams have voluntarily delayed using the device that allows for the recovery of kinetic energy. They will use it later this season, while the BMW-Sauber’s KERS is operational, but the latter has not yet decided on its introduction.
To the question of whether Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen will have KERS on their MP4/24 this weekend, Mercedes director Norbert Haug said to *Auto Motor und Sport*: We do indeed intend to use it at the start of the season on both cars.
