Ross Brawn asserts that his new team is just getting started, despite the blistering pace of the BGP 001 during the latest tests in March.
Many drivers believe that Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, Brawn GP drivers, might be out of reach in Melbourne. However, the team stated that they are only at the very beginning of the development of their car.
During our testing program over the past two weeks, we are now almost convinced that the BGP 001 is a good car that will deliver performance this year, Brawn stated.
« Our objectives during these seven days of testing were to develop our understanding of the car in race conditions and also to achieve a good level of reliability. We are very satisfied with the work accomplished, but we are aware that this is only the beginning. »
« The tests in Melbourne will be crucial, and we need to cover the maximum number of kilometers. These will allow Jenson and Rubens to fine-tune the setup of their car. »
According to Brawn, the team staff deserves to be rewarded for all the efforts made during the winter after Honda’s withdrawal.
« Our ambition has always been to be present on the grid for the first race of the season in Melbourne. Our development has been specifically tailored to achieve this goal, » stated the Briton.
« I am very proud to have made this ambition a reality. The Australian Grand Prix will mark the beginning of a new era for our team. »
« The BGP 001 is the result of 15 months of intensive development. The team did an exceptional job to produce two cars on time. »
