Rubens Barrichello has denied the increasing rumors claiming that the Brawn GP 001 does not comply with the technical regulations.
Toyota, Williams, and Brawn GP have opted for an original design of the diffuser at the rear of their car, which has led some of their opponents to question the compliance of the cars, with Flavio Briatore (Renault) notably declaring that the three teams do not comply with the regulations.
Barrichello quickly defended his team, also stating that the only reason why teams are pointing fingers at Brawn GP is because the car is proving to be fast.
« Are you wondering if we are compliant? When a competing team is behind you, it’s easier for them to say that your car is illegal rather than working even harder to close the gap, » stated the Brazilian veteran to a Spanish newspaper.
« Our team and our car fully comply with the regulations. »
Barrichello will race in his 17th F1 season in 2009.
