The Brawn GP team is back at the top of the time sheets in Jerez on this third day of testing. The team based in Brackley has completed its preparations for the first race of the season in Australia.
Button set the fastest time of the day with 1:17.844. This time is half a second quicker than the week’s best set yesterday by Fernando Alonso.
However, the Briton is closely followed by Williams driver, Nico Rosberg, who finishes less than two-tenths behind the BGP001. The latter could only complete 66 laps after a minor crash into a tire wall.
Nelson Piquet was the third fastest driver today with his Renault team. The Brazilian’s day unfolded at the same pace as that of his teammate Fernando Alonso.
Lewis Hamilton and McLaren are still at the bottom with the slowest time of the day.
The tests continue tomorrow, but only with McLaren and Williams on the track. Brawn GP has completed its tests just like Renault.
