Renault was on track for its third day of testing in Barcelona. Fernando Alonso, behind the wheel of the R29, completed 107 laps of the Circuit de Catalunya and recorded the fifth fastest time.
The team once again benefited from good weather conditions today. Indeed, the fine weather allowed Renault to make good progress and continue working on its technical program, particularly on development work. The team members also focused on evaluating the KERS system and on aerodynamics.
The Spaniard will be at the wheel of the R29 tomorrow, Thursday, for the final day of testing in Barcelona.
Fernando Alonso stated: « We finished another good day of work. We focused on setting up the car and tested a number of things to be ready for the first race of the season. We want to get the most out of the car. We also worked on preparation for the Spanish Grand Prix which takes place here. We are satisfied with the car’s performance, but we must continue to work hard as all the times are quite close. »
Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer added: « After a day of intensive but incident-free work, we were able to complete our work schedule. The track conditions were stable and the circuit temperature remained constant due to the overcast weather. We are making good progress and are satisfied with the work accomplished so far this week. »
