Good reliability on Renault’s R29

Renault was on track again today at the Catalunya circuit for their second day of work this week. Fernando Alonso was behind the wheel of the R29 after a first day of testing led by Nelson Piquet.

The good weather provided excellent track conditions, allowing the team to maximize running time for evaluating new parts. Fernando Alonso was also able to focus on different setup options and worked on car tuning solutions.

The Spaniard will be at the wheel of the R29 until Thursday, the final day of testing for the team here in Barcelona.

Fernando Alonso said: « It was a positive day and we did a lot of laps to prepare for the start of the season at the end of the month. The track conditions were good and we were able to work on the setup. We recorded quite a lot of data that we will analyze tonight. We also obtained interesting results from the work on the aero and the car’s setup. »

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer added: « We have concluded another very positive workday without any reliability issues. We made good progress regarding our testing program. We worked a lot on setup and a bit on aerodynamics in preparation for the first race in Melbourne. We find that the car behaves well and responds positively to changes. »
