Bourdais admits that a return to the United States was possible

Sébastien Bourdais confirmed having explored the possibility of returning to the United States this year, before his contract with Toro Rosso for 2009 was signed.

Franz Tost, Toro Rosso director, always insisted on the unwritten agreement with the Frenchman for a second year with the Faenza team, even though in the end his contract was signed at the end of January.

Red Bull evaluated Takuma Sato for a large part of the winter with the aim of integrating him into their ranks. Bourdais, considered a tremendous champion across the Atlantic, had considered returning to the land of all his successes.

« Yes, obviously, it was an alternative. I am a professional driver, and the worst thing that could have happened to me would have been not having a seat, not driving, » he stated to journalists during the Barcelona event.

« I therefore investigated different possibilities and returning to the United States was one of them. »
