Yesterday, the STR4 was unveiled at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. The Frenchman explains that his team has all the cards to challenge the big teams after their impressive 2008 campaign.
« When you change the regulations, everyone has their own philosophy on car design, » said Bourdais.
Certain philosophies are true, and others are completely false. These days, designers and aerodynamics experts seem to know what to do best for cars.
« There are many computer models and technical tools to achieve the best possible outcomes, but it is still possible to make mistakes. Potentially, the big teams could fall from the top to the back of the grid. Let’s hope we can move forward. »
Bourdais describes his first impressions of the car as positive, which makes him confident in achieving better results than last year.
« I think the base is good, it seems to be a fairly balanced car, » he continued.
« These are encouraging beginnings, but we certainly have many things to test and adjust. These will be quite hectic tests for the whole team. »
He added: « We will try to do as well as possible. Obviously, there are no limitations, so we would like to score as many points as possible. If the team can maintain or improve its level, it would be perfect with as many points as last year. For my part, I would be delighted to score more. »
« There are so many unknowns about the potential of each team, including ours. We really hope to have a good season and score a lot of points, that’s all I can say. »
