Honda becomes Brawn GP
Last week was rich in F1 news. Firstly, the purchase of Honda Racing by Ross Brawn was made official during the night from Thursday to Friday. Honda is therefore definitively leaving the sport, making way for Brawn GP. The car, the BGP001, will make its track debut on the same Friday at Silverstone Circuit with a Shakedown.

Vettel, king of Jerez testing
Another major headline in the news is the Jerez tests that took place over five days from March 1st to 5th in southern Spain. Eight teams were on track (missing Toro Rosso and Brawn GP) for an initial comparison of each car’s performance. Sebastian Vettel recorded the fastest time of the week. Once again, the week was disrupted by challenging weather conditions. McLaren is facing issues with its 2009 version rear wing.
The Force India VJM02 is well born
These tests were an opportunity for Force India to unveil its new VJM02. Its initial tests proved to be quite positive.

The STR4 does its shakedown with Bourdais
Eight teams in Jerez, Brawn GP in Silverstone, only Toro Rosso remains, which performed its shakedown at the beginning of the week on the Adria circuit in Italy. It was Sébastien Bourdais who had the chance to drive the new STR4.

US F1 changes name
The first week of March was marked by the name change of the future Formula 1 team, USF1, which becomes USGPE. This team will make its debut in the 2010 championship, and its presence was officially confirmed on February 24th on American television.

Renault threatens to leave F1
Finally, alongside the Jerez tests, Renault was at the center of the news with rumors of a potential withdrawal from Formula 1. After a FOTA meeting in Geneva midweek, the French team reassured the fans.
