The Australian driver for the Red Bull team, Mark Webber, did not hide the fact that the competition will be tough in 2009.
He wants to warn the supporters not to be too optimistic regarding the new RB5. The car designed by Adrian Newey has proven to be very fast in testing with both Webber and his teammate Vettel, but the Australian is playing the card of caution and realism.
« We need a little more performance, » said Webber to the Australian publication The Canberra Times.
« I don’t know where we stand with the car compared to the other teams. We must do our best in each race to understand it as quickly as we can, » he adds.
Mark will start his third season this year with the Austrian team.
Even though his recent attempts have not been without pain following an accident in which his bike was hit by a car in Tasmania, he states: « The hardest part, at the moment, is walking, but it’s less bothersome to pedal a bike or drive a car. I have absolutely no problem in the car, and I prefer that to being able to walk properly. »
This year, Mark Webber will also have another task that will not be easy to manage. It involves his new German teammate Sebastian Vettel, who is on the rise.
