Renault leaves Jerez a day before the other teams

Renault concluded its four-day test session at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit. At the wheel of the R29, Fernando Alonso completed a total of 130 laps and the best time of the day, ending a very productive week of work for the team.

The team managed to optimize the car under today’s favorable weather conditions. The dry weather allowed them to accumulate kilometers and proceed with the evaluation of new developments. And this despite somewhat challenging track conditions caused by the wind this afternoon.

Renault is now moving to the Montmeló circuit in Barcelona, where the team’s two main drivers, Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet, will once again be behind the wheel of the R29 to continue the winter testing program.

Fernando Alonso said: “I am very satisfied with the result obtained from these tests. We didn’t have any problems over the last two days, and the work done has been very useful. There was a lot of wind today, especially since mid-morning, which made setup work difficult because we couldn’t analyze the changes very well. But all the teams were in the same situation, and we were still able to learn quite a few things.”

« I thank the whole team for their excellent work this week. I know that everyone really put in their share to make sure we could accomplish everything that was planned this week. »

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer added: « The day was very positive, it’s an excellent way to end this week of testing. It was four tough days for the mechanics who worked very hard, as well as the colleagues who stayed at the factory and did everything to ensure we could complete these tests. »

We have shown that we are very reliable and the development work has been very satisfactory. These positive results give us a good start for the Barcelona tests.
