Toro Rosso has just officially announced that it will launch its new car on the Barcelona circuit in Catalonia on March 9.
The STR4, which was designed based on the Red Bull RB5, conducted a shakedown this week during a private session at the Adria circuit in Italy. It will be officially unveiled next Monday, just minutes before the start of testing.
Traditionally, the Scuderia Toro Rosso launches its cars later than most teams because it has to wait to receive the chassis from the parent company, Red Bull Technologies.
Last year, the Faenza team started the 2008 season with a 2007 version car. But once the STR3 hit the track, it quickly caught up with Red Bull Racing in terms of performance and even surpassed it by securing a victory at Monza with Sebastian Vettel.
Sébastien Bourdais has been recently confirmed for a second season with Toro Rosso. Sébastien Buemi will be his teammate as he arrives freshly from the GP2 category. He replaces Vettel who left for Red Bull.
