The initial plan for Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel on this second day of testing in Jerez was to conduct development tests on the RB5 in the morning before starting a race simulation in the afternoon.
The rain having poured all day on the Spanish circuit, the Austrian team had to deal with the situation and replace the planned morning program with a pit stop procedure. This proved useful as it was the first time the new single-seater was doing it.
Despite an issue that forced Vettel to stop on the side of the track, the German successfully completed his race configuration simulation in the afternoon.
The 21-year-old driver, who set the fastest time in Sunday’s tests, finished yesterday in 5th place with a total of 102 laps.
Starting today, it will be the turn of Australian Mark Webber to take over for the last three days of these tests in Spain.
