Rosberg wants a top team for 2010

German driver Nico Rosberg cemented his claims to be part of a top Formula 1 team in 2010.

Although he prefers to stay with Williams, Rosberg claims that he will need the team to make real progress this year.

The 23-year-old driver was designated as a future champion after an impressive start to his F1 career in early 2006, but Williams remains a second-tier team for now.

Furthermore, Nico Rosberg emphasized that he would not survive another mediocre season.

« For me, it will be a crucial year, especially because I want to succeed in this sport. I am made for racing, » he said.

« I hope I will have a car up to the mark this year, this is possible and I am optimistic. »

« Otherwise, I will need to think because I really want to be in a competitive car by 2010 at the latest. »

« I hope it’s Williams. It would really be something special for me to finally achieve success with this team. »

« I get along really well with all the staff and it would be great to achieve something together. It would be a great joy, and I hope it will be with her. »

Rosberg is optimistic this year. The major regulatory changes could favor the small team from Grove.

« The changes to the rules for 2009 are a fantastic thing for us, » he added.

There is no copying between teams, nothing. It’s simply your own ideas.

We start from scratch, like all the other teams. You have a set of rules and you have to make the best possible car.

« More than ever, the most important thing is to have creative ideas, to be ingenious, and to discover fantastic things. »

« It is the most important thing about these new rules, and that’s the reason why it’s truly an opportunity for a team like ours. »

Rosberg also expresses his confidence in the team’s aerodynamics department. Often cited as a reason for its failure in recent years, this would now be a strength.

There are a lot of new people coming from different teams, we have staff coming from Ferrari and Renault who are now with us in the aerodynamics department.

« I think they have taken a good position and personally I really trust their ability. »

« I talk a lot about aerodynamics because it’s the main thing that determines the performance of an F1 car these days, and I really trust the aerodynamics department, as well as the rest of the factory. » Concluded the young driver.

Nico Rosberg, son of the former 1982 world champion Keke Rosberg, will begin his 4th season with the English team.
