Despite the threat of a permanent exit from the sport in 2009, Honda’s boss Ross Brawn remains optimistic about his team’s presence on the starting grid in Melbourne.
The rather pessimistic remarks made by the outgoing owner of Honda Motor Company this week regarding the sale of the team do not dampen the spirits of Ross Brawn, who insists that there are still good reasons to be optimistic.
The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport also reports that the 2009 car has been modified to fit a Mercedes-Benz engine. The first installment is said to have even been paid to the German manufacturer.
Brawn explained: « We just need the light to turn green, then we can go. »
For the Swiss newspaper Blick, he added that when the light turns green, the team will make sure to participate in the last testing session.
To add yet another rumor, Nick Fry may no longer be part of the company’s acquisition plans. Auto Motor und Sport speculates that his departure could signal the imminent arrival of former Prodrive boss, David Richards.
