Gerhard Berger, the former boss of Red Bull’s sister team (Toro Rosso), provides a rather positive analysis regarding the competitiveness of the new RB5!
Berger, who closely followed the recent winter tests taking place at the Jerez circuit, sees his friend Mateschitz’s team as the third power of the 2009 championship.
« I am very satisfied and impressed with this RB5. Kudos to Adrian Newey! He has once again shown that he has real talent as a designer. He also had to adapt all his talent to the new rules, » declared the Austrian.
« Last year, Red Bull already had a level of reliability under control, but now it also has high-performing drivers. »
« This last point added to the great motivation of the team, there is no reason for the upcoming season to be bad. However, we must not forget the other teams that are also making progress, » added Berger for the daily SpeedWeek.
The latest tests have clearly shown that the latest model was well-designed. We recall that McLaren had returned to the top of the rankings thanks to the talent of designer Adrian Newey. It remains to be seen whether Vettel and Webber will benefit from it.
