Bourdais happy to be with Toro Rosso and in F1

On the occasion of the Jerez tests, Sébastien Bourdais said he was happy to stay in F1. He was thus able to regain his driving position with Scuderia Toro Rosso.

The team confirmed last week that the Frenchman would be, once again, one of its race drivers. A second season that began on Thursday during testing. Bourdais had not set foot on a Formula 1 track since December.

« The wait is finally over. Knowing what I am going to do and knowing that we can continue the collaboration we started last year is good, » he stated.

« It was a big problem to manage both on a private and professional level. I feel much better because the season is starting and I can focus on it. »

Bourdais, who scored four points last season, believes he will be able to prove his skills and potential during this second year of F1.

« You always have something to prove. You can be king one day and forgotten by everyone the next. »

« But personally, I know I can do better. I’m just part of a complex system, where you don’t control everything. Sometimes it works very well and sometimes it doesn’t, » he explained.

Bourdais is delighted to be the first to drive the team’s 2009 car next month.

« I am eager to drive the new car. The results will be crucial for the next season. Obviously, a good driver in a bad car won’t achieve much, and the reverse is also true. »

« We will need to score as many points as we can. We had a lot of missed opportunities last year. I hope to have more luck this year. »
