Michael Schumacher was briefly hospitalized yesterday after a motorcycle accident. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion was testing at the Cartagena circuit near Murcia in Spain.
The Virgen Arrixaca hospital confirmed that Schumacher was under observation. Initially, they were unable to provide details about his condition. However, a statement on the German’s website notes that he was indeed injured.
« Today, I had a motorcycle accident during the tests in Cartagena, and for safety, I went to the hospital, » said Schumacher in a statement.
« I was riding and in the first corner of the track, I hit some bumps that made me fall. »
« The checks and other tests at the hospital showed nothing. I’m fine, » he added.
The spokesperson for Schumacher, Sabine Kehm, stated that he only had a mild concussion and that Michael would return home immediately.
