Renault is satisfied with its 5th place

Renault was on track today in Jerez, in the south of Spain, for this first day of testing with Nelson Piquet at the wheel of the R29.

The team began its technical program in unfavorable weather conditions, which slowed down the workday. However, despite the rain, the team worked on the development and evaluation of its KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), which it will focus on throughout this week.

Better track conditions are expected for tomorrow, and Nelson will still be at the wheel of the R29. He hopes to finally run on a dry track before handing over to Fernando Alonso, who will continue testing on Thursday and Friday.

Nelson Piquet said: « It’s a shame that we lost track time because at this stage of the season we really need to do as many kilometers as possible. Since the car is brand new, every lap allows us to learn something. We gathered quite a bit of data today that we will analyze tonight. The forecast is for better weather tomorrow, so I hope we can continue the work started today. »

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer added: « The track conditions kept changing today due to the bad weather, but the track dried up at the end of the day which allowed us to engage in a good testing session. The car performed well and we gathered interesting data. The weather forecast is better for the rest of the week, so we will be able to continue our

Learning.
