The thirst for victories for Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel stated that his goal for the current season is to win races. He made this announcement at the launch of the new 2009 car.

The RB5 powered by Renault and designed by Adrian Newey was presented to the public yesterday, Monday, at the Jerez circuit, where Vettel completed a shakedown.

The German driver joined Red Bull after spending just over a season with the sister team, Toro Rosso. He made a strong impression by securing a victory at the Italian Grand Prix last year.

Vettel admitted that his goal for the season was to return to the top step of the podium.

« The goal is to win. It would be presumptuous to say that I am going to win the world championship. I want it anyway, » said Vettel.

« We need to see where we stand compared to the other teams. I believe that the new rules could give a chance to teams like ours to close the gap with the best, even if the favorites remain McLaren and Ferrari. »

« If we do this, we will be able to score points regularly and maybe fight for a little more. I prefer to stay at a reasonable level and work hard to do better. If we surprise ourselves, that will be even better! »

He is the youngest winner of an F1 race and feels ready to work on the RB5 even though he is still in a phase of acclimatization with his new team.

« I know the team and the guys who work with me much better. All these issues need to be resolved now and then we can focus on the car, » he concluded.
