The day Red Bull Racing launched its 2009 car, the RB5, Total announced that it would support the Austrian team.
Total, one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world, will supply the team with fuel and lubricant for engines and gearboxes.
« We are delighted to welcome Total to Red Bull Racing, » commented Christian Horner, team principal.
« Total will make a significant contribution to our technical performance. The new rules require racing engines that must last longer. With additional pressure on the KERS work cycle, lubricants can play a crucial role in ensuring reliability, not just for the engine, but also for the gearbox. »
« We work closely with our engine partner, Renault. The choice of fuel and lubricant can also positively affect power and fuel consumption, » concluded Horner.
Total is also the sponsor of Citroën in the WRC as well as Peugeot at Le Mans, in LMS, and in ALMS.
