According to the Spanish sports newspaper Diario AS, Renault has decided to add a pre-season test to its winter preparation.
The French team seems to have suffered from a lack of testing with its R29 in Portugal last January due to dreadful weather conditions. It had planned to end its pre-season program on March 14, about two weeks before the Australian Grand Prix.
A new date could therefore be added after the last official tests in Barcelona, possibly at Silverstone, which is less than an hour’s drive from Renault’s headquarters in Enstone, England. This additional test could take place during the week of March 16.
This season, and if no changes occur, testing during the regular year will be banned, that is to say, between the Australian race and the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1, 2009.
