The BMW-Sauber team has confirmed that it will be traveling to Bahrain for the next testing session.
The Hinwil team initially planned to follow the majority of the teams to Jerez in Spain, but the bad weather that hit the Iberian Peninsula during last month’s tests changed the situation. Additionally, poor weather conditions are still expected in Europe in the coming days.
Ferrari and Toyota will also be in Bahrain at the Sakhir circuit, where two four-day sessions will take place. The first between February 10 and 13 and the second between February 16 and 19, according to the local newspaper the Gulf Daily News.
BMW will put its F1.09 on the track unveiled in Valencia, a new single-seater that has potential.
« From now on, we will focus primarily on performance, » a BMW spokesperson said.
Despite the significant number of kilometers to travel to Bahrain, the German team confirmed that the search for warm and dry weather is the reason for this change of program.
« Track temperatures are extremely important. They were very low in Europe during the last event. We hope they will be significantly higher in Bahrain. The first race of the season takes place in warm conditions. »
