Adrian Sutil has been under contract with Force India for more than two years now. The German driver experienced a mediocre car last year, which did not allow him to score points, despite having Ferrari engines under the hood.
This year, 2009, Force India switches sides and will have Mercedes engines and complete technical assistance from the McLaren-Mercedes team. Sutil views this development very favorably. He already sees himself entering the top 10 multiple times, and why not, causing some upsets.
« I think it will be a great help and that this partnership will make us progress, » commented the German on Force India’s official website. « Maybe we can regularly get into the Top 10 and even score points consistently! I am confident. »
Adrian Sutil adds a parameter that he thinks is important: he has improved his own level. In 2007, at Spyker, he had a car with brake assist: « I was strong in qualifying, I always managed to set a good time. »
Nevertheless, in 2008 with Force India, the regulations changed and braking assistance was removed. « I had to adapt, it was a lot of changes but I managed to do it and I think I became a better driver. »
The young German does not deny the help his experienced teammate provides: « With Fisichella by my side, I’m gaining a lot of experience. He helps me a lot, and there is no doubt that this third year in Formula 1 as a full-time driver will be my best! »
The cards are dealt, and Sutil shows his hand to his teammate at Force India. He wants to beat him in the race. We await the Italian’s reaction.
