The Yvelines strike back and create the support committee

To counter the demonstrations by the population of Yvelines last week, the general council of Yvelines, a department wanting to host the next French Grand Prix of F1, has created a support committee for the project named Yvelines F1, the valley of the automobile.

The 2009 French Grand Prix was not supported by the FFSA (Fédération Française du Sport Automobile) taking place at Magny-Cours, a venue not very much liked by Bernie Ecclestone, the financial chief of F1. Unfortunately, no project could be established to take place in 2010, so there will be no Grand Prix on the motorsport grounds until at least 2011, if an agreement is reached.

Currently, it is the Yvelines project that is the most viable and most supported by the authorities. As evidence, the general council has created a website: Yvelines F1, to explain its project in detail and to get local residents to understand.

It is currently this same population that is not convinced, seeing only negative aspects of the project. A demonstration was organized last week.

It brings together all those who wish to support and promote this project initiated by all the general counselors, the mayor of Les Mureaux, Flins-sur-Seine, the president of the Seine Mauldre community of communes, and the district member of parliament. » Comments a press release.

If the green light is given by the general council, the construction project could begin as early as March.
