Robert Kubica declared himself happy after the end of the first shakedown of the new BMW-Sauber, the F1.09.
The car, which was unveiled today, completed 73 laps of the team’s private circuit located near Valencia in Spain.
The team focused on the control and data collection system.
Kubica said he was satisfied with the first event, despite a lack of grip on the Spanish track.
« It was a good shakedown without any technical issues although the track lacked a bit of grip, » said Kubica.
« There was only one car in operation. We have already learned a lot about how the car behaved in order to make changes as needed. »
BMW Motorsport Director, Mario Theissen, added: “We unveiled the BMW-Sauber F1.09 this morning and then continued our day with a shakedown at the Valencia circuit in the afternoon.”
« Everything went according to plan and without issue. The car is now ready for the first full-scale test day tomorrow with Robert behind the wheel. »
