Bourdais has the preference of the F1 public

According to a survey conducted on the official Formula 1 website, Sébastien Bourdais is reportedly supported by more than 57% of F1 fans. He is therefore widely preferred over Takuma Sato, his main rival for the last remaining seat at Toro Rosso in 2009.

It’s now been three months since the winter break began, along with the transfer shuffle. Few surprises to note this winter, and yet, some teams, two months before the start of the season, still haven’t fully finalized their driver lineup. This is the case with Toro Rosso.

Red Bull’s little sister announced last week that it would offer a seat to Sébastien Buemi, a young Swiss from the Red Bull motorsport division, for the 2009 season.

There is only one spot left in Formula 1 officially after Honda’s withdrawal, still without any takers. This spot is currently contested by Bourdais and Sato. Both men have conducted tests for the team. Even though the Japanese driver seems to have the financial advantage, our Frenchman seems to have everything else. He is more experienced and, above all, he is preferred by the public.

In the survey conducted last week on Formula1.com, Bourdais received 57.45% of the public votes to take this vacant seat.

Takuma Sato received 29% of the votes, leaving the other voters undecided. A renewed sense of hope in the tricolor camp as it is announced that the decision will be made in less than three weeks.

In the same vein, nearly 55% of you think that Bourdais retains his chances intact for the 2009 season according to the Motors Inside poll.
