Official: Webber’s return scheduled for February 11

Mark Webber stated that he will return to the cockpit of his Red Bull on February 11, a little less than three months after breaking his leg in a cycling accident in Tasmania.

The Australian had always said he would be ready for the first tests of the RB5, and he has just confirmed it with his return date. And for good reason, the launch of the new single-seater is scheduled for February 9th.

« I am eager to drive the car, I only have three weeks left to wait, » said Webber on the air of BBC Radio Five Live.

« I will have a trial session on February 11th and we will then see the results. »

« If all goes well, I will be back on track on February 13. Then, I will have three other test sessions to complete in Jerez, Valencia, and then our last one in Barcelona with all the teams. Then, we will fly to Australia, » he continued.

Webber is satisfied with his rehabilitation and is convinced that this operation will have no effect on his season.

« I’m doing well now. The worst is behind me and I hope not to keep the crutches for too long. You can start testing my muscles when I feel more confident to walk on my leg! »

« This accident will not affect the way I drive my car. It has impacted my body, I need a bit more preparation, but there is still time before Melbourne. So I should be up to par. »
