Heidfeld predicts more racing accidents in 2009

BMW-Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld fears a wave of on-track accidents at the start of the 2009 season as drivers will need to get used to the new aerodynamic elements. Indeed, these have been authorized to encourage overtaking.

The German, along with his teammate Robert Kubica and the team’s test driver Christian Klien, have already driven with the 2009 aerodynamic parts during the tests in Jerez and Barcelona last November and December. Heidfeld believes that drivers could be surprised during their battles on track.

« I think that could happen more often, especially at the start of the season because you need some time to adapt, » said Heidfeld about a possible increase in the number of accidents.
