The double Spanish world champion Fernando Alonso is a major star, especially in his country where he is highly acclaimed.
La Sexta, which is a Spanish television channel, has signed a 5-year contract worth 6 million euros with Fernando Alonso. This includes exclusive interviews on the starting grid and exclusive access to the Iberian during Grand Prix weekends.
La Sexta has several other clauses acquired through this contract for the only current titleholder driver in the premier category of motor racing, who is also a double world champion. This confirms the Spanish interest in their native Oviedo driver.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Michael Schumacher, had reached a similar agreement with the German channel RTL. The reason is mainly due to the change in the TV program in Spain. Indeed, La Sexta will broadcast F1 in 2009.
La Sexta has also confirmed the rumor that has been circulating for a few weeks in F1: Total will be present on the livery of the next Renault car. Fernando Alonso disclosed this to them during an exclusive interview. The information is therefore confirmed day by day, the livery of the R29 will indeed include red instead of dark blue on the front and rear wings as well as on the side deflectors of the future 2009 model car. These spots were originally intended for the arrival of one or two new partners, following the departure of ‘Telefónica’ and ‘I-Mode’ in 2006.
The Renault driver thus confirms information we had already announced to you a few days ago.
