Ross Brawn, team principal of Honda Racing F1, also denies the purchase of his team by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim.
He has, however, admitted that a number of people were in talks with the team based in Brackley. Any information suggesting an agreement between Honda and Slim’s Telmex company is unfounded.
« We would like this agreement to be effective, but it is purely speculation by several media outlets. It’s just one of those rumors that has the whole world in a frenzy, » Brawn declared for the Daily Telegraph.
However, Brawn remains optimistic by stressing that everything is in place for a buyer to come forward and purchase the team well before the start of the 2009 season in Australia.
« Everything is in place even though we had to refuse several programs due to lack of resources, but we still have a competitive package. »
« We hope that something will happen and we are eager to find a solution for the new year. »
