Ferrari plans to start discussions with Michael Schumacher next year to decide whether a collaboration between the seven-time world champion and the team with 16 Constructor titles remains relevant.
Schumacher’s contract as an advisor ends at the end of 2009. The team stated that nothing has been decided yet regarding the continuation of the partnership.
Speaking to the Italian magazine Autosprint, Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali wants to clarify Schumacher’s situation for next year and beyond. He remains open-minded to any possibility.
« He still has a contract with us for next year, so he will be in the service of Ferrari in 2009, » announced Domenicali about the immediate future of the German.
The activities carried out with us both in single-seaters and in racing will continue next season.
« However, rightly so, it is clear that everything must be appreciated and honored for its contribution. Thus, during the season, we will have discussions to determine if this collaboration will continue to be as fruitful. »
