The head of the Renault team, Flavio Briatore, is considering ending his Formula 1 career in two years.
The flamboyant Italian, who will have a new role within the French team next year, stated in the Italian media on Saturday evening that he plans to retire from the sport in 2010.
When asked by journalists about a possible move to Ferrari, Briatore stated: « I like beating Ferrari but when my team doesn’t win, and being Italian, I obviously support Ferrari.
« But I don’t think I’ll join the Maranello team, especially since in two years, I’m retiring from Formula 1. »
Briatore spent a large part of the 2008 season reflecting on his role at Renault. At the beginning of the year, he had explained that he wanted to plan his future before the sport did it for him.
