The Force India team confirms its drivers for 2009

Force India is pleased to confirm that its driver line-up for the 2009 season remains unchanged. Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil will continue as official drivers, with Vitantonio Liuzzi as the test and reserve driver.

Vijay Mallya commented: « I firmly believe that next year will be a huge opportunity for this team. We have a new technical partnership with McLaren and Mercedes, a new management structure, and today two of the strongest drivers on the grid. »

« We would certainly have welcomed the ideas and advice of our new partners in this matter, however, our choice was made based on the talents available in the market. With Giancarlo, Adrian, and Tonio we now have a fair balance between experience and ambition. »

During this end-of-year period, the Indian billionaire managed to achieve both a new partnership with a top global team and the confirmation of his two already experienced drivers in the team. Now it remains to be seen if these two combined choices will allow for worthy objectives during the 2009 championship.

Some rumors announced the arrival of a driver who would have been chosen by McLaren-Mercedes. De la Rosa and Di Resta were the names that circulated the most.

Let us recall that last season the Force India team did not score any points.
