Ecclestone: « Formula 1 will survive the global crisis »

Bernie Ecclestone insisted that Formula 1 will survive as Honda, one of the largest car manufacturers, has decided to leave the sport.

However, he admitted that it is a difficult period for Formula 1, but claims that the sport is in the same situation as the majority of businesses worldwide.

« I think Formula 1 is in crisis more than any other business in the world. At the moment, the world is in crisis but it won’t stop, that’s for sure, » Ecclestone told the BBC.

« Everyone is working like crazy to be as competitive as possible. The FOTA has met to amend the regulations and I have no doubt there will be a drastic reduction in costs. »

Nick Fry, Chief Executive of Honda Racing supports the words of Formula 1’s chief financial officer: « There is a lot of work that is underway between the teams, and I think that the changes that have been unanimously approved will result in cost savings next year between 50 and 60 million euros. »

« The teams are aware of the situation and we are determined to ensure that Formula 1 remains a fantastic spectacle watched by more than 600 million people every year. »
