Honda could be saved by David Richards

According to the English media ‘The Daily Telegraph’, David Richards, head of Prodrive, is reportedly a candidate to buy the Japanese team Toyota.

Not a novice in the world of F1, Richards is even less so at Honda since he led the team from 2001 to 2004 under the name BAR-Honda.

The English would be ready to contribute 70 million dollars to the team’s operating budget, which is far from the current 300. However, the Japanese leaders are ready to sell their team at a low price if it allows it to continue in the world championship.

Of course, the management could not be entirely preserved, but thinking that a buyout offer could provide the same budget and maintain the current staff would be somewhat utopian.

Discussions are ongoing, and the confirmation or not of the acquisition could be confirmed very quickly, especially if the team must work towards preparing for the first Grand Prix of 2009 in March.

Let’s hope that this proposal or another can be found, which would bring a breath of fresh air to the world of F1 that really needs it right now.
