The Circuit de Catalunya located not far from Barcelona, which hosts a Formula 1 race and a Moto GP race, will undertake renovation work on its paddocks.
According to Catalunya Radio, the work is scheduled after the organization of the two 2009 events. The Spanish Grand Prix is set to take place in May and the Catalonia Moto GP Grand Prix in mid-June.
The director of the circuit, Ramon Praderas, stated that the main work would be concentrated in the paddocks over an area of 40,000 square meters.
« We will reinvent new paddocks, » he confirmed, explaining that the task will take two or three months.
According to Praderas, the area will be rebuilt for the first time since the circuit’s arrival in 1991. The cost of the work is estimated at 6 million dollars, which is more than 4.7 million euros.
