The two Formula 1 circuits in the Middle East, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, have reached an agreement to work together to promote their respective races. A delegation from the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), led by its president R. Alzayani Zayed, was welcomed at the Yas Marina Circuit by the President of Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management (ADMM), Khaldoon Al Moubarak.
The agreement will allow both events to explore all possibilities to attract the maximum number of spectators and sponsors. Alzayani and Al Moubarak presented the possibilities for the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to embark on a new era for the development of motorsport in this Persian Gulf region.
The BIC and the ADMM are committed to the long term as the collaboration will be effective for at least 10 years.
« The Bahrain Grand Prix takes place at the beginning of the year and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the season, there are many projects we can work on to attract more spectators, more customers, and more sponsors, » said the president of the Bahrain circuit, Alzayani Zayed.
Abu Dhabi will join the Formula 1 calendar in 2009 and will be the final event of the season on November 1st. Bahrain has been part of the calendar since 2004, and the 2009 race is scheduled for April 26th.
