Mirko Bortolotti, Salvatore Cicatelli, and Edoardo Piscopo, three Italian Formula 3 drivers, had the joy of driving an F1 single-seater from Scuderia Ferrari on Wednesday, November 26. The team had promised them this opportunity in light of their performances in the Italian championship.

Mirko Bortolotti, Edoardo Piscopo, and Salvatore Cicatelli were in action on the Fiorano circuit at the wheel of an F2008.

Bortolotti, 18, was the fastest of the three, with a best time under the minute mark at 59.111 with 40 laps completed. This time is the fastest recorded at Fiorano this year.

Piscopo finished second in 1:00.336 with 29 laps completed, while 18-year-old Cicatelli set a best lap of 1:01.243 with 33 laps on the counter.

« I think I made a small mistake on my best lap at the hairpin. In the end, a few tenths slipped away, but the time remains excellent. It was a unique experience and an immense joy, » declared Bortolotti in the columns of the Gazzetta dello Sport.

« I had some difficulties in the morning on the wet track, but on the dry, I immediately had confidence in the car. »

Luca Baldiserri, Ferrari’s sporting director, followed the performances of the trio: « These boys amazed and surprised me. What is most extraordinary is that they didn’t even make a mistake. They were very fast and showed enormous potential. »
